Clements Marine Working with OYS

Clements Marine are key propeller suppliers to Ocean Yacht Systems (OYS) for their bow and stern thruster range, and suppliers of propellers for most of their unique primary drives. OYS were displaying a large thruster with Clements produced propellers on their stand at the METS exhibition 2009.

Produced onsite at the Clements Marine foundry in Bedfordshire, the special geometry propellers for the thrusters are made from nickel aluminium bronze. Paul Williams, Managing Director of Clements Marine commented “The propellers are designed to fit the specific requirements of the units. Our client’s design team specify the horsepower required, and the speed of the propellers and then using in-depth software my team design the propellers for maximum thrust with the correct sizing”.

Clements Marine and OYS are leaders in their specialist fields, the level of technical knowledge and understanding is essential for the production of quality products. Both companies are using state of the art design packages, resulting in a high end quality product that fits and performs first time.

OYS Thruster Director Ian Crowden said “The relationship with Clements has helped the development of our thruster range. Precision in design work and accurate manufacture of the propellers has helped to improve manoeuvrability and produce enhanced performance from our finished thrusters. Clements have provided our design team with good technical back up and responded quickly to our requests.”

Clements Marine products are designed and manufactured using modern CAE techniques in their Bedfordshire, UK plant and are supplied extensively throughout the marine leisure and commercial sectors. Clements Marine products are used by many boat manufacturers including Naval and Port Authorities throughout the world. They supply to vessels built under specialist service craft rules such as Lloyds Register of Shipping, Norske Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd.
